Repairs

Leak Detection in Memphis, TN

Flowmasters finds hidden water leaks in walls, ceilings, under slab floors and in the service line to your house. Pinpointing the leak first means a smaller opening, a smaller repair and less damage to your home.

Common problems

Sound familiar?

A water bill that jumped

If your MLGW or city water bill rose and your usage didn't, water is going somewhere. A leak running all day adds up fast.

Sound of running water

Hearing water when every fixture is off, or a meter that keeps spinning, means there is a leak on your side of the meter.

Damp spots, mold or warm floors

Soft drywall, musty smells, buckled flooring or a warm spot on a slab floor point to a hidden supply or hot water leak.

Questions

What people ask first

How can I tell if I have a hidden water leak?
Turn off every faucet and water-using appliance, then watch the water meter for 15 to 30 minutes. If the meter or its leak indicator moves, water is leaking somewhere on your side. A running toilet is the most common cause, so check those first.
Do you have to tear up walls or floors to find a leak?
No. We locate the leak with testing and listening equipment first, then open only the spot we need to reach. That keeps drywall, tile and concrete work to a minimum.
What causes slab leaks in Memphis homes?
Mid-South clay soil swells when wet and shrinks when dry, which shifts slabs and stresses the pipes under them. Corrosion and pipes rubbing against concrete or rebar also wear holes over time.
Is the leak in the yard my responsibility?
Usually, the line from the meter to your house belongs to the homeowner, and leaks on the street side of the meter belong to the water utility. We can test to show which side the leak is on.
