Common problems

Sound familiar?

A pipe burst or froze

When a Memphis cold snap hits, pipes in crawl spaces, exterior walls and attics can freeze and split. The leak often shows up when the pipe thaws.

Stains, drips or damp spots

Water stains on a ceiling, a damp crawl space or a wet spot on a slab floor usually mean a hidden pipe leak.

Rusty water or repeated pinhole leaks

Brown water and small leaks that keep popping up are signs of corroding galvanized or copper pipe. Patching one spot won't stop the next.

Questions

What people ask first

How do I keep pipes from freezing in Memphis?
Insulate pipes in crawl spaces, garages and exterior walls, and seal crawl space vents before a hard freeze. On the coldest nights, let faucets on outside walls drip and open sink cabinet doors. Disconnect garden hoses from outdoor spigots.
Should I repair one leak or repipe the house?
One leak on otherwise sound pipe is a repair. Repeated pinhole leaks, rusty water or polybutylene pipe usually mean the whole system is aging out, and repiping costs less over time than chasing leaks. We'll show you what we find and price both.
What pipe material do you use for repairs?
We match the repair to your system and code, typically copper, PEX or CPVC for water lines. PEX is common for repairs and repipes because it handles freezing better and needs fewer fittings.
Will you have to open walls?
Sometimes, if the leak is inside a wall or ceiling. We find the leak first so the opening is as small as possible, and many repairs can be made from a crawl space or attic.
