Water Heaters

Water Heater Repair in Memphis, TN

Flowmasters repairs gas and electric water heaters that won't heat, run out fast, leak or make noise. We tell you straight whether the heater is worth fixing or close enough to the end that replacement makes more sense.

Common problems

Sound familiar?

No hot water

On a gas heater it's often the pilot, thermocouple or gas valve. On electric, it's usually a heating element, thermostat or tripped reset.

Hot water runs out fast

Sediment buildup, a failed lower element or a broken dip tube can cut your usable hot water in half.

Leaking, popping or rumbling

Popping and rumbling mean sediment in the tank. Water at the base can be a valve or fitting, or a tank that has rusted through.

Questions

What people ask first

Should I repair or replace my water heater?
Repair it if the tank is sound and the problem is a part like an element, thermocouple or valve. Replace it if the tank itself is leaking, which can't be repaired, or if it's past about 10 to 12 years and needs a major part. We'll give you both prices.
Why is my water heater making popping noises?
Sediment has settled on the bottom of the tank, and water trapped under it boils and pops as the burner or element heats. Flushing the tank can help. Heavy buildup shortens the heater's life and lowers efficiency.
Why does my hot water run out so fast?
On an electric heater, a failed lower element is the usual cause. On either type, sediment taking up space in the tank or a broken dip tube mixing cold water in can do it. It can also mean the tank is too small for your household.
My water heater smells like gas. What should I do?
Leave the house, don't use switches or open flames, and call your gas utility from outside. Once the utility says it's safe, call us to repair the heater.
